What Sleep Positions Say About Your Personality

Sleep positions can reveal much about our personalities; however, this doesn’t necessarily apply to everyone.

Fetal position sleepers tend to be shy and sensitive. While they have a tough exterior and may appear trustworthy at first glance, those who prefer the log position tend to be more social, open, and trusting of others.

Fetal Position

Surveys suggest that those who prefer sleeping in the fetal position tend to be introverted, sensitive and shy individuals. They prefer having someone provide protection and understanding; these individuals tend to find it hard to trust others.

Though sleeping in a fetal position may help relieve back pain, it also imposes strain on neck and back joints, restricting breathing.

Chris Idzikowski warns that sleeping in the log position indicates you may be too social and open to new people; however, sleeping in the starfish position indicates you enjoy close relationships and prefer cuddling close.

Log Position

Sleeping like a Log, also known as the Yearner Position, involves lying on one’s side with arms by your sides. According to Idzikowski, this position suggests an easygoing and social but slightly gullible personality; slow in making decisions but once made tend to follow through.

People in this position tend to be hardened on the outside but soft and affectionate on the inside. They’re empathetic and supportive – qualities which make them great friends – while upholding high standards and expecting others to do the same.

Sunbather

Idzikowski believes that sleeping on your back with arms flung around the pillow like a starfish indicates strong loyalty toward friends. You prioritize relationships and are willing to assist anyone in need. Although you may sometimes come off as bold or assertive, Idzikowski notes that they may also be sensitive to criticism and require guidance in handling it appropriately.

People who sleep in the baby position tend to be both outgoing and social; they’re also trusting and vulnerable. Although they appear tough on the surface, they need a sense of protection in their lives.

Cuddler

Sleeping in the “starfish position”, with arms resting against a pillow and legs straight out, indicates you are an eager listener who cares deeply for those around them.

Sleeping in the fetal position, by far the most popular position, indicates you may be an outwardly tough character but soft-spoken inside. While shy at first, once comfortable you open up easily. Furthermore, criticism can affect you negatively.

Craver

Few of us realize it, but our sleeping positions reveal more about who we are than just comfort considerations.

People who sleep in the soldier position tend to be strong, silent individuals who take themselves very seriously and may appear intimidating. Like the fetal position, this sleeping posture may cause back pain. By contrast, those sleeping in the starfish position tend to be friendly individuals who often help others while seeking peace and solitude in their lives.

Pillar

Sleep positions reveal much about us; less commonly known is that your chosen sleeping position could provide unique insights into your personality traits and behaviors.

Sleeping in the Pillar position means your body resembles that of a pillar; typically quiet and reserved with high standards. For optimal results when sleeping this way, using a firm mattress and thin pillow may help alleviate back pain and neck stiffness while possibly offering relief from acid reflux symptoms.

Crazy Cruncher

Sleeping on your back with arms down by your sides – commonly referred to as the soldier position or starfish position – indicates a great deal of loyalty toward family and friends, as well as being good listeners who provide support when necessary.

If you prefer sleeping on your stomach with hands around the pillow – known as the free fall position – this indicates you are an outgoing and confident individual, while being vulnerable and sensitive. Criticism or extreme situations could easily unsettle them, while those in this sleeping position often drink heavily and experience snoring or breathing difficulties.

Snow Angel

Your kindness and generosity make you a sought-after aid provider, while your listening skills make for good company. In short, you are an exceptional individual who enjoys making others happy.

Sleeping like a starfish with your arms near your pillow – or the soldier position – indicates that you are friendly but may lack natural leadership ability. Furthermore, peace-lovers tend to enjoy having their own space.

Studies suggest that sleeping positions reflect your personality; however, many have small sample sizes and involve self-reporting; therefore it would be prudent not to put too much stock in these results.

Flagpole

Sleeping in the Flagpole position indicates you’re an assertive and friendly individual, while also being very trusting of others – this could make you vulnerable if your guard is let down too often, since your exterior hides a soft interior that needs protection.

According to Professor Idzikowski, sleeping like a Starfish indicates you are outgoing and social, yet can be sensitive to criticism or extreme situations. They value friendship and are quick to help out when friends need assistance – they make great company and are fun people to be around! These people make life fun.

Sunglasses

Your choice in sunglasses says something about who you are. For instance, when it comes to grey frames specifically, they represent someone who tends to take things slowly when making decisions and who prefers taking things step-by-step rather than making snap decisions on impulse. They may sometimes even appear suspicious but with an open mindset.

Sunglasses also signal an outgoing and friendly persona, so grab yourself a pair that suits your personality – you won’t regret it, plus they look fantastic too (just make sure you put them on before heading out the door!). Have a wonderful sleeping experience!
